What is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced "ray key") is a Japanese word using a combination of two words; Rei means universal and ki (also known as Chi) means life force energy. Together it means Universal Life Force Engergy or can be translated as Spiritually Guided Energy.

Think of it like radio waves. You can't see them, but they are in constant motion and can be received at great distances if you "tune in" to the right channel.

Since energy flows like water flows through a hose, when there is a kink or blockage in the hose, it produces a build up of stagnant energy. These blockages are responsible for many of our ailments and health issues. By releasing the blockages through the use of Reiki treatments, the energy is allowed to flow freely again, thus restoring health, renewed energy and wellness.

The practice of using Reiki has been around for centuries and was used by sages, prophets and biblical figures to promote health and well-being and was often referred to as "hands on healing".

Reiki is not a cure itself or a replacement for medical treatment.

What happens during a session?

Reiki is a non-invasive therapy and can be done in person or from a distance. Distance healings are just as powerful and successful as in person. You can sit in a chair or recline either on a yoga mat or a massage table while fully dressed and receive Reiki treatments. You are generally not physically touched at all during a session unless you are comfortable.

Many people feel different sensations such as warmth or cold, tingling or a sense of relaxation. Some feel nothing at all but the effects are still present and may be noticed days later. There are no painful or adverse side effects to the use of Reiki treatments.
